Today I am excited to share with you another Christian Testimony. Every Christian Testimony has the potential to reach the hearts of many different people. I always say – “we are different, yet we are the same”. Not all of us experience the same struggles and curve balls that get thrown at us in life. Yet, we all experience personal struggles and our own curve balls.
When we are courageous and share how we have gotten through our own struggles it can have a huge impact on others. Giving your personal Christian testimony is a way to share God’s never ending love, grace and mercy. Through sharing your personal experience you give others an example of how God changes lives. It can also encourage others to continue to press forward in their lives as it gives them hope.
I have known Kevin for over 16 years now. I have had the honor of being his wife and sharing a part of his journey for 14 of those years. When he shared with me that he wanted to share his testimony with my readers it warmed my heart. Kevin’s story is a testament of God’s grace, mercy, love, and healing. I believe that it is also a powerful statement of how a person’s attitude and perseverance impacts their life. It also is a testament of how a parents faith can have a major impact on a child. I am so grateful for the faith and the love for God that both Kevin and his parents have.
Kevin’s Christian Testimony
Hi my name is Kevin and here is my Christian testimony.
I was born in the early morning of March 3rd 1971. From the very beginning I made life interesting for my parents. The doctor had to preform a “C” section as I was 5 weeks early. I was born with an open hole in my back and had to have my first surgery an hour after I was born. I commonly joke that after I was born they brought in the student doctors and had live organ identification ( I know — bad humour).
My parents were told that I was born with a condition known as spina bifida. This is a condition that affects the spine. In effect what happens is the spine doesn’t grow all the way. In many cases this condition causes the nerves not to grow and as a result muscles don’t grow all the way. For many this means no use of their lower extremities (legs and even control of bodily functions). I feel blessed to be mildly affected compared to many other people. I have function and feeling in one leg and some control of bodily functions. My other leg is still there, but it seems to be there for aesthetics only.

A Miracle
When I was about 3 months old, it is my understanding from my parents that I had a fever that was out of control. In those days medicine wasn’t as advanced as it is today and the medical personnel taking care of me couldn’t get it under control. My parents were told that it didn’t look good and that unless something dramatically changed I wouldn’t survive.
From what I was told I understand that my parents (whom I have grown to admire in their personal walk with God) were trusting God to take care of me. They were expecting to get a call from the hospital saying that I had passed away. In the morning that call hadn’t come so they got ready and headed for the hospital fully believing they would have very little time with me. When they arrived they were greeted by the hospital staff and doctors. The doctors told my parents that there is no medical reason that I should be alive. Not only had I survived the night but I had also medically turned around. They believed that what happened to me was a miracle.
Fast Forward A Few Years ~ Another Miracle
When I was about 6 years of age the doctors at one of my medical appointments told my parents “you better get this child a wheelchair because of his medical condition he will never walk”.
Well…. within a year or two after that appointment I was vertical. With the help of crutches I was walking.
My Youth ~ More Miracles
My youth was filled with many surgeries and hospital visits including one that had me go in for back surgery. As I grew up I developed something called “scoliosis”, which is a a curvature of the spine. My parents were told that if I didn’t get this surgery to correct the problem, the curvature would cause my vital organs to be crushed. My body then being under the strain of this would most likely end my life prematurely.
By now my doctors had learned their lesson. Instead of saying a result of the surgery would mean I would lose feeling in the rest of my lower body — they simply said that 30 percent of patients who undergo this surgery lose feeling and movement in there extremities. The doctors by now refused to predict exactly what would happen. They knew by my history that something else was at work here. ——— That something was Jesus Christ.
Trust In Jesus
You see for me I put my trust in Jesus. I know that He is going to be there with me no matter what. My parents taught me that faith by simply living that same faith themselves. God has a purpose for me and I’m excited to see what He has in store.

Currently ~ Even More Miracles
I am now 48 years old and I have a beautiful wife of 14 years. I have a job that I thoroughly enjoy and have been at it for 23 years. My ability to be vertical and walk with crutches is still happening.
Recently I have had a few medical scares. One of them is known as sepsis. Essentially this is an infection in the blood that if not caught in time attacks and kills your vital organs. Due to the infection I lost the right side of my hip bones. I can not get a hip replacement as there are no bones left to attach it to. I have also had to get a new shunt in my brain as the old one that I had since I was small finally wore out. In addition to all of that I have had to deal with wounds in my lower extremities that required hospital stays and once released from the hospital, daily visits to wound care.
With my wife by my side and with our trust in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we have come through to the other side. I am recovering well and I am still faithfully walking with God. You see, Christ is in control of all things and He will give you all that you need. You only need to ask. Mathew 7:7 say “ask and you will be given, seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be opened”
Seek God
I encourage each and everyone to look to God, and trust that He has you in His hands. You are His child and He loves each and everyone of you. In fact, He loves you so much that He gave His only son to the cross to die for us to conquer the grave and give us eternal life. (John 3:16)
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begottenSon, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
God will guide you to unbelievable adventures — If you let him
Blessings to each of you.

More Of Kevin’s Medical Journey
I am grateful that Kevin volunteered to share his Christian testimony. His journey thus far has been one that is full of miracles. I am blessed to be able to say that I am his wife and that he is my best friend. I have learned so much about faith, tenacity, perseverance and the goodness of God through walking part of his journey alongside of him. As Kevin mentioned, we put our trust in God.
The reality is – it hasn’t always been an easy journey. There have been many times in the past several years that I thought I may lose him and that God was calling him home. It is difficult to watch a person that you love struggle with so many medical issues. I often wonder how people live without faith, for it has been our faith that has brought us through so many trials.
If you want to read a bit more about Kevin’s journey in regards to the past few years medical issues, and how our faith impacted us, you can find it at “Growing Through Trials and Difficulties” (click on the link).
Personal Relationship With Jesus Christ
Kevin has had several encounters with Jesus Christ. They all have changed his life. Not only have the miracles he has walked in benefited him – it has also had a rippling effect on others. It has given other people hope and it has led them to see Jesus in a new light. God has given Kevin so many blessings and he has chosen to utilize these blessings to encourage and give to others. I have never met a more gentle and generous man (and I am not saying that because he is my husband 😊).
It is a honor to walk along side of him in our life’s journey together. I am grateful to God for the man that he created my husband to be. I appreciate how he has encouraged others to have a relationship with Jesus Christ as he knows the abundance of His love He has for all of us.
Accept His Invitation?
God desires a relationship with you too. No matter what it is that you are walking in right now, He wants to help you through it. He doesn’t want us floundering alone in the struggles of life. A relationship with Him starts with a tug in our heart and yearning to know Him better. He is offering us salvation, forgiveness, acceptance, grace, mercy, love, kindness, healing and guidance. He is the giver of miracles.
I am inviting you to pray the “prayer of salvation”. This is the most important prayer that we will ever pray. In this prayer we acknowledge that we are ready to trust Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. When we pray the prayer of salvation, we’re letting God know we believe His Word is true and we are inviting Him to take the lead of our lives.
Romans 10:9-10 ~ “if you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Biblegateway.com
Prayer
Dear God,
Today I come before you and admit that I am a sinner. I know that there is nothing that I can do that will save myself. Many times I have done things that I know didn’t please you. I have been selfish and lived my life in selfish ways. For this I am sorry, and I ask for Your forgiveness.
I am ready to trust You as my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Jesus, for coming to earth. I believe that You are the Son of God, that You died on the cross for my sins and that after 3 days You rose again.
You did for me what I could not do for myself. Today I come to you and ask You to take control of my life. I freely give it to you. Help me to live every day in ways that please You.
I love you, Lord, and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you.
In Jesus’ name ~~ Amen
