Hello friend,
Today I am excited to be sharing another Christian testimony with you.
Every Christian Testimony has the potential to reach the hearts of many different people. I always say – “we are different, yet we are the same”. Not all of us may have experienced the same struggles and curve balls that get thrown at us in life. Yet, we all have experienced personal struggles and our own curve balls.
When we are courageous and share how we have gotten through our own struggles it can have a huge impact on others. Giving your personal Christian testimony is a way to share God’s never ending love, grace and mercy. Through sharing your personal experience you give others an example of how God changes lives. It encourages others to continue to press forward in their lives as it gives them hope.
In Rebecca’s Words
My story is one of choices, change, constant learning and blessings.
I grew up going to church and loving it. At home things were different with a Christian mom and a then atheist dad I had two very different perspectives and opinions to learn from.
“Encounter Relationship”
Growing up in the church I loved the culture and the friends, but I never learned to develop a personal relationship with God. I had what I would call an “encounter relationship” with God. Going to church services, events, retreats or conferences and having a deep connection with God. I would then make changes temporarily in my life due to those encounters, but I never developed a personal daily relationship with him. I just lived off each encounter and then spiritually starved till the next one.
Looking For Acceptance
Between my up and down relationship with God and a parent who supported it and one that discouraged it, I never developed a relationship with God. This resulted in me never really knowing who God had made me to be. Which resulted in me always looking for acceptance from everyone. In time I became willing to compromise just to be accepted.
In elementary and middle school I was picked on and teased which fostered my desire to be accepted. I tried to cling to my God encounter relationship in middle school and the first year of high school. But when my parents split in my sophomore year, it only continued to foster that need for love and acceptance. Still living off an encounter relationship with God I slowly began to compromise the standards I had chosen for myself. By the end of my senior year in highshool I had thrown almost all of my standards out the window just to try to feel loved, wanted and accepted.
Abandoned My Faith – My Choice of Compromise
Shortly after the end of the school year I abandoned my faith and with it compromised all that I had tried to cling to just to feel wanted and accepted. For six years I tried to please others and settled for what I though was the best I could do. I strived to achieve what I thought I needed to feel fulfilled, attaining a good job and a long term relationship.
Rock Bottom
After six years of trying to achieve happiness on my own, I hit my rock bottom. I had a pregnancy scare. Knowing I wanted to raise my kids in church, I went back to the church I grew up in – feeling terrified.
Received Love And Acceptance
I thought that I would be judged and ridiculed for my life choices over the years. Instead I was greeted with open arms and smiling faces. I felt the love and acceptance I had been looking for all those years. I encountered God again and felt his loving embrace. This time with the help of my childhood friends and a mentor I learned to develop an intimate daily personal relationship with Jesus.
I made the choice to break-up with my boyfriend and come back to church. Six months later God called me into ministry. I quit my job, began working in the church office and interning in the youth ministry. That was in 2008.
A Changed Life (Choices and Blessings)
God has changed me so much since then. I have found my identity in Jesus and He teaches me more each day. He has taught me that He loves me no matter what and that unconditional love has given me the confidence to do what He has called me to do; to write and speak to others about how He can fulfill them and change their life too.
He has blessed me with so much, a fire and a passion to write and speak about Him. A husband that God picked for me that is a way better match then I could have hoped for and friends and family that support, love and encourage me in my faith in God.

Accept His Invitation?
God desires a relationship with you too. No matter what it is that you are walking in right now, He wants to help you walk through it. He doesn’t want us floundering alone in the struggles of life. A relationship with Him starts with a tug in our heart and yearning to know Him better. He is offering us salvation, forgiveness, acceptance, grace, mercy, love, kindness, healing and guidance. He is the giver of miracles.
I am inviting you to pray the “prayer of salvation”. This is the most important prayer that we will ever pray. In this prayer we acknowledge that we are ready to trust Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. When we pray the prayer of salvation, we’re letting God know we believe His Word is true and we are inviting Him to take the lead of our lives.
Romans 10:9-10 ~ “if you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Biblegateway.com
Prayer
Dear God,
Today I come before you and admit that I am a sinner. I know that there is nothing that I can do that will save myself. Many times I have done things that I know didn’t please you. I have been selfish and lived my life in selfish ways. For this I am sorry, and I ask for Your forgiveness.
I am ready to trust You as my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Jesus, for coming to earth. I believe that You are the Son of God, that You died on the cross for my sins and that after 3 days You rose again.
You did for me what I could not do for myself. Today I come to you and ask You to take control of my life. I freely give it to you. Help me to live every day in ways that please You.
I love you, Lord, and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you.
In Jesus’ name ~~ Amen
